Lana Frantzen, Ph.D. (San Antonio)

Dr. Frantzen is Vice President of Health & Wellness with Dairy MAX and part of the Health & Wellness Team with the National Dairy Council.

She earned her Ph.D. in nutrition from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX. She received her Master of Science degree in nutrition from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Texas in Austin.

Lana previously worked at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and the Social and Health Research Center in San Antonio. She specialized in pediatric and maternal nutrition as well as cultural health issues.

Lana has worked with the dairy industry for the past thirteen years. As part of the National Dairy Council and Dairy MAX teams, she serves as a national and local media spokesperson. Lana has enjoyed conveying nutrition science into action steps for numerous television, radio, and print interviews. She serves as a national health professional liaison with the National Hispanic Medical Association and is dedicated to improving the health of the Hispanic community. She is currently involved in a research team investigating the nutrition environment and dietary intakes of Hispanic children with low socioeconomic status. She is also responsible for strategic development and implementation of nutrition education programs including bilingual nutrition education for educators, health professionals, and key leaders in Texas. Lana enjoys taking constantly evolving, complex nutrition research and transforming it into easy-to-understand, practical information that people can utilize to make their lives healthy and well-balanced.

 

Katie McKee, MCN, RDN, LD (Dallas/Fort Worth)

Katie McKee attempts to find balance in all things as she juggles commitments to her family, friends, work and French Bulldog Romeo.  With two great passions: communication and nutrition, Katie loves her role at Dairy MAX teaching others about the power nutrition has in their lives.  As a registered dietitian nutritionist, Katie focuses on making the science simple.  People are often confused on what foods to choose and Katie wants to step in to help them make the best choices.  As a nutrition expert, Katie knows that healthy eating goes a long way towards a lifetime of health and well-being.  Working for Dairy MAX, allows her to talk about the health benefits of milk, cheese and yogurt with a wide variety of audiences from new moms to established health professions. 

Katie comes to dietetics as a second career.  Her personal passion for nutrition led her to this new profession.  With a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Arizona, Katie worked as a writer, editor and reporter before returning to school at the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center to earn a Master of Clinical Nutrition in 2014. A member of the National, Texas, Tarrant and Dallas Academies of Nutrition and Dietetics, Katie also sits on the Tarrant Area Food Policy Council.

As a program coordinator for Dairy MAX, Katie covers the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.  She serves as a media communicator, is responsible for health professional outreach and helps develop the team’s communications materials. She has a food first philosophy, focused on finding ways for people to find balance both on their plates and in their busy lives.  

 

Marley Oldham Carnes, M.S., RDN, CSCS, CPT

Marley Carnes was always passionate about nutrition and fitness, so her profession feels more like a hobby she loves rather than a job. With a Bachelor of Science in dietetics and a Master of Science in nutrition, she’s is also a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, ACSM Personal Trainer, CrossFit Level 1 Coach, and ACE Group Fitness Instructor. Marley has worked in variety of settings over the past ten years. She has worked as a trainer and diet tech for Jim White Fitness & Nutrition, deployed 9 months at sea as a “Fit Boss” with the Navy, worked overseas in Japan, and served as a Fitness and Sports Director at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Ca. When she heard about the opportunity at Dairy MAX, she knew it would be the perfect fit – especially since she’d become the favorite of her father-in-law, a retired fourth-generation dairy farmer. Marley loves being plugged into her community and has done numerous volunteer positions with organizations such as the LIFT Foundation, YMCA, and enjoys partnering with local emergency responders, battered women’s shelters, and food pantries.
