Elieke Demmer
As the former Director of Nutrition Research at National Dairy Council (NDC), Elieke Demmer, Ph.D., RD was involved in the development, design, initiation, and management of scientifically sound and diverse research programs on the health benefits of dairy. Elieke was the lead for NDC’s Childhood Health & Nutrition as well as the Vascular Health research platforms. To effectively share research-driven nutrition information with the academic community, health professionals and the public, Elieke helped translate the dairy-related nutrition science for the appropriate audiences. Prior to joining National Dairy Council, Elieke received her doctoral degree from the University of California, Davis where she completed her Ph.D. in Nutritional Biology with an emphasis in both Immunology as well as Biotechnology. Her dissertation focused on the effects of dairy fat on postprandial inflammation. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from UC Davis and is a registered dietitian.
Elieke’s work includes serving as an active member of various professional societies including the American Society for Nutrition (ASN), Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), the Chicago Food and Nutrition Network (CFNN) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).
When not at work Elieke enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with friends and family; anything from hiking, biking, running, camping or rowing.
